Our classes are of a mixed age but of similar ability with a maximum of 6 per class so numbers are nice and small and we can give each child individual coaching throughout the lesson.
Pupils progress through four levels - Octopus, Goldfish, Angelfish and Shark. Within each of these levels there are three awards.
On completion of Level 4, pupils will be able to:
- Swim at least 100 metres on their front and back
- Perform all four competition strokes
- Perform a an additional two strokes
- Swim in a t-shirt and shorts
- Perform rescue and survival skills
- Perform a competitive dive from the poolside
- Show an understanding of their own ability and basic water safety.
Our courses are booked in blocks of 12/14 lessons to fall in line with school term time. Lessons are 30 minutes long. All children will be required to wear a swimming hat, goggles are optional.
Junior Swim is suitable for all children regardless of their previous experience and swimming ability. It is our objective to give children the confidence in and around water, while providing them the skills required to allow each child to be proficient in all 4 strokes at the end of the Junior Swim program.
Junior Swim use a varied and progressive program in which children are grouped into similar abilities and not by age. Are levels are set by the STA Swim Scheme (sta.com) and when your child has reached the end of each level, certificates and badges can be purchased through their Junior Swim instructor.
All our Junior Swim instructors are fully qualified and police checked.
Junior Swim Refunds
Please note that refunds will not be given in the event that your child is unable to attend a class due to sickness or holiday. However in exceptional circumstances of illness Junior Swim will consider issuing a credit note for the next term.
